West Country Triathletes (WCT) is a friendly triathlon club based in Somerset. We welcome members of all abilities, from complete novices to seasoned competitors. Our aim is to provide a supportive environment to help you meet your goals, whether it’s simply to get regular exercise, overcome injury, improve your swim technique or train for a specific event. Some members prefer just to swim, whilst others train across all three disciplines of swimming, cycling and running. If you find the idea of joining a triathlon club intimidating please don’t; our members love nothing better than to combine a race with a cup of tea and a piece of cake! And if you can’t swim 50m without stopping don’t worry, you are very welcome. From very modest beginnings some of our members have achieved inspirational results!
If you are competitive and want to train with like-minded people please join us. Our members have competed at all sorts of events from sprint triathlons, Ironman, GB age group, road runs, open water swimming and trail running. There are so many events to choose from and there is a wealth of experience to draw upon from within our membership.
Each season we try to identify events that our members can enter together so we have a good club turnout. We have regular socials – quite often a curry – and usually enter a team(s) into either the national triathlon relays at Nottingham or the Roadford Lakes team event in Devon. Our new Facebook group helps members to organise training together and we try to have a club event every month or two; see our Events page for details. We have a range of club kit including hoodies, tri suits, cycle jerseys and we will soon add a club running vest.
Please get in contact with us via email@example.com or meet us at one of our swim sessions at Cheddar or Burnham – see Training times. Please bring along your kit and join us for a training session in the pool free of charge! We offer a number of membership options to suit your circumstances – see Membership.
We hope to see you soon!
