About Us
West Country Triathletes (WCT) is a club based in Somerset with a focus on training and competing in triathlon, as well as organising races. We are affiliated to the British Triathlon Federation, which provides the club with insurance and also means that members who decide to join British Triathlon can do so at a reduced rate.

At present we have around 60 members. The club aims to be friendly and sociable and welcomes any new members, including novice and experienced Triathletes, or people who are just interested in keeping fit, without necessarily wanting to compete.

The WCT committee are keen to develop the club by providing more training sessions, social events and races as well as building up a junior section. We try to be responsive to our members by listening to feedback and changing things if necessary.

Winter Training:
Swimming – Mondays at 8.30pm at Cheddar Sports Centre – 1 hour session following a programme. Groups split according to ability.

Swimming - Wednesdays 8pm at Burnham Swim and Sports Academy  - 1 hour session

Cycling – Road ride Monthly on a  Sunday from Burnham Swim and Sports Academy as well as mountain bike rides as and when.

Swim/turbo sessions every couple of months.

We also have plans for a brick session turbo/run.

Spring/Summer/Autumn Training
Swimming as above but also open water training on Fridays at 7.30pm (the time may vary according to light)

Cycling as above but also many members participate in regular time trials.

Running – Meet 7.45pm on Mondays outside Cheddar Sports Centre and run before swim session.

Social Events
We have an AGM in November that includes buffet and skittles.

Christmas drinks at a local pub

During the summer we organise barbeques on the riverbank after open water training.

Members have come up with more ideas for social events, which we hope to follow up during the coming year.

Membership
It costs £12 for annual membership to WCT £6 for Juniors.
