Brighton Marathon – April 2011

by Michell Francis

There was over 8000 runners at the start of Brighton marathon but there should have been 15,000 but I think the heat put off a lot of runners.   This was my second time at Brighton and was in search of a PB.  It was a really hot race with a few hills thrown in for good measure. The first 10 miles were easy pace and then up to mile 18 I felt really strong.  Mile 18 – 23 was difficult but with fantastic crowd support the last 3 miles soon went by and I finished in 4.13.55 which knocked a massive 28 minutes off my time last year and in 3081 th place.  Brighton sea is a great way to cool off and numb those achy legs. This is a well organised event  with strong crowd support and I enjoyed (most of) it.
